Rev. Dr. Perry illuminates the story of Abraham offering his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice to God from Genesis 22:1-14 NIV.
I pray all is well with you and your family. As we head into the dog days of summer the Lord has laid on my heart a passion to have New Hope engage in 40 Days of Prayer. If you have been reading the news hopefully you have a sense that it is time for the people of God to get serious about seeking the face and will of God through prayer.
I found an excellent prayer resource online. You can go to http://church-revitalization.com/login/ and download a free copy of the guide. You do not have to register – just click on 40-day Prayer Guide and download.
Here at New Hope we will be utilizing the guide to help us get connected to God through prayer.
Please join me in 40 Days of Prayer
Rev. Dr. Alonzo Perry, Sr.
Good Friday is one of the most solemn days on the Christian calendar. It is the day that Jesus of Nazareth was crucified for the sins of the world. Just how the term “good” came to be associated with Good Friday is not clear. Some think it is a corruption of “God Friday” while still others believe it means pious, devout, or holy.
However, I have often heard Good Friday referred to as “Good” in relationship to what Jesus did. By giving His life he transformed a day that was meant to be evil into something altogether good.
That’s how God works. He is constantly turning things around.
Special thanks to the Youth Praise Dance Team (YPT) and the youth ministry for raising money to support a child in Haiti as part of New Hope’s Adopt a Student program!
